I knew that many Americans had a poor knowledge of geography -- perhaps they don't teach it in school -- but I didn't realise it was this bad.
No wonder they haven't found Osama bin Laden after looking for more than 8 years.
Hat-tip to whoever sent this in an e-mail to my wife at work.
I gather that WGN9 is a broadcast station in Chicago.

Knowledge of geography is but one manifestation of the educational malaise in western nations now and through ignorance arise the preconditions for wage slavery.
Let me get this right. Chicago is a suburb or Paris, right?
Lots of people here don't even know where THEY are, or the next town or county or state, much less another continent or country. (Make me look like a genius, as dumb as I am.)
After my student wrote on the final exam in the course titled "Hispanic Civlization" that Africa is a country in Latin America, nothing will surprise me.
That was a University student, mind you.
Since it has been noted that my fellow Americans tend to learn their geography from war, count yourself blessed.
I have always loved geography, but then, many of my compatriots accuse me of anti-Americanism.
I blame pornography. There was a time young American boys went to National Geographic for pictures of bare-breasted Nubian or Polynesian lasses. There may have been a lot of incidental learning that disappeared with the advent of Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, et al. Now ithe the Internet, kids don't even pick up reading.
Ah! this is very funny and also sad gaffe!!!
