Firefox crashing on clicking Image Uploader in WordPress

Firefox crashing on clicking Image Uploader: WordPress.com Forums:
Is anyone reporting problems with Firefox crashing when trying to upload images? I have not installed anything new on my desktop, just clicking on the square box to upload images would crash Firefox.

I've been having that problem too, so I thought I would try it in Blogger.

The last couple of days I've been at the Amahoro Conference, and wanted to blog about it on my Khanya blog, and every time I tried to upload a picture, Firefox crashed. But it seemed to work OK in Internet Exsplorer.

But it seems to work OK here, so it must be a Wordpress problem rather than a Firefox one, though the latest information is that Google Gears is the culprit, so it looks like it's time to uninstal that.

Oh yes, the Amahoro conference has been pretty good, and I've blogged about it here and here, among other places.

Does Windows update block Internet access?

Last night my wife lost Internet access on her computer. We checked connections, rebooted, but it still didn't work. This morning I saw pending Windows updates on my laptop, installed them and went off to read a book waiting for it to reboot. And then I could no longer access the Internet.

Similar updates were waiting on my desktop computer, and I installed them, rebooted, and there was no Internet access.

I returned to the laptop, did a system restore, and Internet access was restored.

I wonder if there will be a massive shutdown right across the Internet, as Windows XP users are cut off.

AVG Antivirus problem

Is anyone else having this problem with AVG antivirus software?

"The system just recovered from a serious error"

Microsoft reported:

Problem caused by antivirus software

Although we have not determined the specific cause of this problem, we know the problem was caused by antivirus software.

Recommendation

To try to solve this problem, follow these steps. Each of the steps might solve your problem. If following a step doesn't fix your problem, then go on to the next step.

Update your antivirus software

Missing antivirus software updates could be the cause of your computer's problem.

Check for multiple antivirus programs running on your computer

Running two antivirus software programs on your computer at the same time is not recommended because the two programs can interfere with each other. Even if you don't think your computer could be running two antivirus programs, antivirus software can sometimes come bundled with your computer and it might be running without your knowledge.

Contact the antivirus manufacturer

If you've completed the previous steps, we recommend you contact the antivirus manufacturer directly for additional support.

Problem is:

  • The problem apparently occurred during an update of AGV antivirus.
  • AVG doesn't provide support for the free version, so there's no way to tell them about the problem.

Is it likely that AVG will become aware of the problem and fix it?

Is there any other good antivirus software out there?
