Last post for world's oldest blogger

World's oldest blogger makes final post - National - smh.com.au: "The Australian woman renowned as the world's oldest internet blogger has made her final post, aged 108.

Olive Riley, of Woy Woy on NSW's central coast, died in a nursing home just after 6am yesterday.

She will be mourned by family and an international readership in the thousands."

That's sad news. I'd never heard of her before. When I read the title of your post, I thought it was referring to how long the person had been blogging, not how old the blogger was.

I also had not heard of Olive Riley, but I have thought about what would happen to one's readers if one unexpectedly died. (I suspect it is what happened to one 'blogger I "knew" five years ago, who disappeared all of a sudden.) It's great to have friends on cyberspace, but we're not as connected as we seem if our readers will not be able to grieve with our "real life" families and friends when the time comes.

I've thought the same thing. No one else has my login or password for blogger, Facebook or e-mail, so if anything happened to me, readers would likely never know what or why. Worst still, I usually program posts to go up a week or more in advance, so my blog would continue posting for a while after I was gone.
