Thirty billion dollars

Bought a Sunday newspaper today, The Sunday Independent. It had the price on it.

SA R11,50 (Inc VAT)
Zimbabwe $30 Billion.

That's right - $30 000 000 000 000,00

Who needs sanctions?

They couldn't do anything to the Zimbabwe economy that Mugabe hasn't already done.

There was a time when the Zim dollar was worth more than a Rand.

I'll try to remember to look next week to see what it is then.

I remember reading about someone in Germany, I think Dietrich Bonhoeffer's father, who had an insurance policy fall due during the hyperinflation there in the 1920s, and he was able to buy a bottle of champagne with the proceeds to celebrate. In Zimbabwe it probably wouldn't have even bought the newspaper.
